Yesterday, our partners The Nathan Hall Williams Center hosted our first continuing medical training of the year for the healthcare workers at Bondeni Sub-County Hospital. Bondeni Sub-County hospital has a very busy Maternity department that was, in part, established through years of joint partnership clinics. Today it serves hundreds of women each month through antenatal care, labor, and delivery. Preeclampsia is a severe and life threatening condition that women often develop during pregnancy. It is currently the second leading cause of mortality for pregnant women in Nakuru. Government health facilities are beginning to prioritize the critical drugs needed to treat preeclampsia, as well as establish training for nurses and others on prevention, warning signs, protocols, and management of the disease. Our training allowed healthcare workers in Bondeni to continue building critical care skills while also establishing a community sensitization plan. Together, we are improving outcomes for both Mamas and babies in Nakuru county!

This training is part of on ongoing program to build capacity through training, resources, and community strategy within government health facilities in Nakuru County. Our trainings are facility-directed and based on real time community priorities. Thank you to our friends and supporters for continuing to support our health projects!

Further support for homeless and needy people in Dortmund and Bochum. This morning we brought a full helpvan with winter jackets, jeans, hoodies, sleeping bags, hygiene articles and other things to @bodo_ev

Many thanks to Awo Lüdenscheid for the donation today: 3 wheelchairs and a bunch of good walkers for our disability project.

10 pallets with medical supplies and a power generator arrived in Ukraine yesterday (January 17th) by truck. Distribution is planned in the next days. Many thanks to our partner @zivilerkrisenstab for their efforts

Many thanks to the Stadtverwaltung Lüdenscheid for the recognition on behalf of the Hardcore Help Foundation and all supporting helpers.

Yesterday 3 pallets with sleeping bags, winter clothes and other goods were picked up for two homeless charity initiatives in Berlin. We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.

This month our partners at The Nathan Hall Williams Center held a continuing medical training for healthcare workers on cervical cancer screenings in Bondeni. Only 15% of eligible people in this community have been screened for cervical cancer, despite cervical cancer having an increasingly high incidence and poor prognosis for women in Kenya. Early and frequent screenings are one of the most effective ways of catching cases early on when treatment is generally the easiest. The community health extension teams in Bondeni are working hard to ensure as many people as possible understand the importance of screening, have access to screenings, and have access to prevention and wellness services. The health extension teams equally play a vital role in connecting people who test positive for cervical cancer to providers, financial resources for treatment, and support networks. We applaud their efforts and are thankful for supporters who allow us to empower these critical healthcare workers each and every month. Your support matters!

Last week, we trained and distributed water filters to members of a breastfeeding support group in Kiratina, Nakuru. The number of people exclusively breastfeeding their babies in this region has significantly reduced over the past couple of years so this network was formed as a group of multipliers. They meet regularly with each other, and with other breastfeeding members of their communities, to discuss not only the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding, but prenatal care, postpartum care, family planning, complimentary feeding for babies above 6 months of age, essential hygiene, and more. Clean, safe water is an ongoing challenge for many of the women who took part in our distribution and thanks to generous supporters like you, each household will now have access to this vital resource for at least five years! Clean water changes everything!

This project is part of an ongoing campaign to raise funds for households in need of clean, safe water. It costs 35€ to supply a family of six with clean water for a minimum of five years. Please consider making a life changing donation today!

Yesterday 10 pallets were picked up by our Netzwerk Ziviler Krisenstab to support hospitals in Ukraine.
