Some pictures from the waterfilter distribution to 105 families in June. AYS from Germany and Stray From The Path from the US, two hardcore bands who played #thisisafricafest early June joined us.

We‘ve now distributed over 500 waterfilters this year already with our clean water campaign shirt. Pictures made by Edmason. Our next distribution is planned next week.

We're in the middle of the summer festival season. The first part went well, thanks for all the positive feedback you gave us at the booths, all the nice conversations and interests. Really appreciated it. Catch us in the next weeks at following festivals: RIEZ OPEN AIR, Afdreiht un Buten - Festival am Hartensbergsee, Wacken Open Air, Tells Bells Festival, The Ultimate Summerblast Festival, Ieperfest, Summer Breeze, Reload Festival, Pell-Mell Festival and Fallen Fortress Open Air. If you're able to bring a wheelchair to one of the festivals that would be awesome! Hopefully see you soon!

Donation with socks & men clothes to Gast-Haus in Dortmund.

Today we did another waterfilter distribution in Kapkures, Nakuru. This year so far we have been able to distribute over 320 waterfilters to households with our clean water campaign. Because of your support we can do these distributions every month. We can’t thank you enough for this.

Last couple of days were very educative. Travelled North-East of Kenya to Kitui County to visit the Ikathima Water Project (IWP) a water project in Masyungwa from our new partner Sharewater, a rural area that has major water problems. In this County about 40% of the water points are broken or only partly operating. That’s a big issue. There are multiple reasons, using bad materials in the past, lack of funding or research to mention a few. If hand pumps or water kiosk are not working people have to choose alternative water sources like earth/sand dams which are much further away and more dangerous to use because the water is contaminated. With every problem you first have to define and analyze the problem before you take action. Over the past years there’s a lot of research been done by the Oxford university. Sharewater partners with the Oxford university. The IWP is well-prepared and executed by a Kenyan company Fundifix. This company has created a sustainable maintenance model which could be the answer to solve the water problem in this area. The project involves a combination of using renewable energy and a sustainable finance program. The expansion of a solar system makes sure that the high diesel fuel costs are reduced to 0. The solar system creates enough energy to pump up the water from a 185 meters deep well. The finance program looks very exemplary by using the newest technology. Every household gets a pre paid chip which is connected with a mobile number. One of the major issues at water kiosks is that money disappears. This model makes sure that theres no cash flowing, which makes it also much safer.
This is an impressive and instructive project which we will accompany more in the near future. Together with all the partners we can achieve that many households in rural areas have quicker and safer access to water and sustainable services which will help communities grow.

Some impressions from the waterfilter distributions from last week  in Kapkures, Kenya. Shout out to our local partner The Nathan Hall Williams Center for helping us. More distributions are planned in April. We keep you posted.

End of last week we delivered a vehicle with around 60 boxes and 10 bags to ASBL in Brussels, Belgium. This facility who are supporting over 4000 homeless and refugees, they're always in need. We brought them jackets, shoes, underwear, blankets and sleeping bags.

Few days before that we did a few deliveries in Dortmund to a street work organization and supported also them with clothes and sleeping bags.

100 winter sleeping bags. We’re distributing them to several streetworker organizations and homeless centers in NRW, Berlin, Amsterdam and Brussels.

Clean Water project shirt update: last month we released a new campaign shirt to raise awareness and to collect donations for our clean water project. The result after the first 4 weeks, we sold 325 (!!!) shirts. WOW, this is absolutely incredible! Thank you all so much for this.
Okay this means WORK!! 325 more households in Kapkures will soon have access to clean water. We will distribute the waterfilters together with our partner NHWC step by step. Our goal is to give a whole village access to clean water and make it a sustainable project so that people in that area easier get clean water.
More water filter distributions are planned next week. We keep you posted!

If you're thinking about supporting this project as well you can pick up the shirt at our booth or online here:
