In 2024 we continue with our mobility project in Kenya. The next batch of wheelchairs arrived this week in Mombasa.

For this project we’re still looking for functional wheelchairs. Devices are distributed on site by our local partner @nhwc_kenya. Your contribution will make a difference! If you can support us with a wheelchair or spare parts, please get in touch!

This week more winter sleeping bags arrived which we purchased from the latest donations. For those who supported the betterplace and facebook fundraiser, thank you all so much. Also many thanks to Satander Bank Mönchengladbach, Die Sparkasse Lüdenscheid and the city of Lüdenscheid for their sponsorship at the end of last year. This enables us to regularly purchase donations in kind such as sleeping bags, underwear, socks and hygiene items and helps us maintain our logistical network.

Our partners @nhwc_kenya held our monthly capacity building training yesterday at Bondeni Maternity. The nurses from that facility, along with others from Lanet Health Centre, Free Area Health Centre, Mirugi Kariuki Maternity, and student nurses from the Kenya Medical Training College, came together to practice drills for maneuvering complicated breach deliveries with babies in distress. They also practiced managing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). These obstetric emergencies rely on the ability of nurses and the swift management of their maternity teams to deliver these mothers and at times, save their lives and the lives of their newborn infants. Successful management of these patients also prevents emergency cesarean births that not only necessitate ambulance transportation to higher level facilities, but can also complicate postpartum recoveries.

These trainings serve as an opportunity for maternity teams to practice hands on skills, sharpen team dynamics and communication, and share knowledge and best practices across facilities.

Thank you to our supporters for continuing to donate towards our health projects in Kenya!

42 people got tattooed. Big thanks to tattoo artists Madame Patie and Leroy from Cash Only Tattoo and everyone who participated. Everyone who left a tip, that's incredible, we will use it to buy new sleeping bags. We definitely want to repeat this campaign again, somewhere at the beginning of next year. We keep you posted ❤️ #organspendetattoo #organspendeausweis #organspenderettetleben

This week we were in Düsseldorf. Zwischenschritt Jugendhilfe has contacted us that they urgently needed supplies for their young clients. So we packed our helpvan full of cool streetwear and drove to Düsseldorf.

News from Kenya! The rehabilitation of Mui Piped Scheme is going on very well. Around 2.000 people and their livestock from the villages of Kimu and Kimangao, will soon enjoy their fresh water from two new water kiosks with automated water dispensers (ATM). Our local partner FundiFix has already completed major pipe and pump installations and some minor works at the existing solar structure that serves the pump. With the coming installation of the two ATMs, tiles and a proper drainage, cleanliness and hygiene will be secured.

This next project is possible because of another great sponsorship from the good people of @tools_for_life_foundation and because of your great support. We would like to thanks everyone for making this next project a reality. More updates following in the next days.
