In 2013 we began what has become the largest distribution of mobility devices in Nakuru County. Over the years we began bringing 2-3 wheelchairs every time we visited Kenya but word spread and soon the demand was much higher than we expected.

We eventually began the mammoth task of shipping our first container of wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches to Kenya in 2015. We spent the next year thereafter gifting independence to over 250 deserving people. Word spread and the waiting list for devices grew. Last year, at the height of the pandemic, we sent our second container full of medical equipment and mobility devices.

Our partners are busy on the ground distributing all of the devices as we speak. Now as a well established disability project, we continue receiving large donations of mobility devices. This round we want to focus more on specialized wheelchairs for athletes, tricycles and other devices for adults who need to get from one place to another, and wheelchairs for small children. We need your help to make this happen! Please consider donating towards our next container!

15 wheelchairs, crutches and walkers donations by our local partner The Nathan Hall Williams Center at Hills Special School and Pagani Special School in Nakuru. Look at all those happy faces. Our mobility project is back at full swing and we are excited to offer independence to hundreds of more people in the next months from our container. Thank you to everyone who makes this project possible!

Today is the second water filter distribution this year in Bondeni. Another happy group with filters that will provide clean, safe water for their families for at least five years!
Thank you for supporting this project!

Our first water filter distribution of the year was this morning in Bondeni. Each household was trained on how to use their new filters, health and disease prevention, and hygiene. These filters will last a minimum of five years and will ensure that each family has clean, safe water available throughout. Thank you to everyone donating to our water projects!

The fifth permanent hand-washing station is well underway at Ruguru Dispensary! These hand-washing stations are part of an initiative by us and our partners  The Nathan Hall Williams Center to improve hygiene facilities at public health clinics in Nakuru County. We have a goal of completing ten stations at ten clinics. Can you help us?

This week our partner NHWC joined a consortium of partners and Beyond Zero, a government led initiative to improve materials and child health, to put on the first of five mobile clinics this week. We are excited to join other county partners for this important women’s health week. We are providing health education, HIV testing & counseling, antenatal care, family planning, childhood immunizations, and check-ups and medications for those who are unwell. All services are free of charge thanks to your support!

Our local partner in Kenya has started to build the 4th hand-washing station at Kiwamu Health Centre Nakuru. The previous stations in Nakuru got some nice paint swell this week.

Why did we decide to switch to GLS Bank?

GLS Bank

is exclusively investing in ecological and social projects and companies since many years. The bank does neither finance companies which are violating labor and human rights, nor does it speculate with our money in arms trade, climate-damaging practices or nuclear energy. GLS stands for people before profits and so do we at HHF!

If we want to change something for a better future, we also need to know what happens with our money!

Progress at the 3rd permanent hand-washing station at Engashura Health Centre in Nakuru North Sub-County! Which will be done by Friday midday. Thank you to everyone donating to our fundraiser. Let’s meet the needs of these communities together!

These hand-washing stations are part of our initiative to encourage better hygiene in order to curb the spread of covid and other harmful diseases. Handwashing is the #1 to prevent the spread of diseases!
Construction has started on the second hand-washing station at Menengai Crater dispensary. These permanent hygiene stations will allow both staff and patients to wash their hands every time they enter the facility — a critically important intervention now to curb the spread of covid in Nakuru. They will also serve these clinics for years to come. We should be finished by Thursday this week and with your help, we can move on to another one next week!
